This policy explains what data is processed when you use "Pick Up or Down". No registration is required to play the game.

This website is operated via Firebase Hosting, a service provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland ("Google"). When you access the site, Google processes technically necessary data (e.g. IP address, date/time of access, the file requested) in order to deliver the page. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a stable and secure provision of the website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
The game content (categories and questions) is loaded from Cloud Firestore, another Google service. No personal data is transmitted by you in the process – this is a one-way, anonymous retrieval of game data.
The following information is stored exclusively on your device (local storage), is not transmitted to us, and only serves your convenience on repeat visits:

We use Firebase Analytics (Google Analytics) to analyze how the game is used, e.g. to see which categories are popular and how successful game rounds are. In doing so, pseudonymous usage data (e.g. device information, approximate location via IP address, app events such as round start/end) is transmitted to Google and also forwarded to the USA.
Events collected include: game start, questions answered (correct/incorrect), round end with score, and language selection.
Analytics is only activated with your consent. On your first visit, we ask you via a banner whether you agree to the use of Google Analytics. Until then – and if you decline – no analytics data whatsoever is transmitted to Google. Your choice is stored locally on your device. You can change it at any time via the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of the page. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
To help finance the free game, advertising integration is being prepared: Google AdMob for the Android/iOS apps and Google AdSense for the website. The website currently only contains a meta tag for verifying the domain with Google AdSense. No Google advertising script is loaded and no ads are displayed. Before real ad placements go live, we will ask for your consent and update this section with the specific data processing involved (e.g. advertising IDs, personalization, opt-out options).
